Azek decking is easily one of our most favourite decking materials around. Its durability and wide range of colours make it an excellent choice for most.
Azek, unlike most believe is plastic or pvc decking, not composite. The main difference is the absence of wood fibre. This gives azek superior properties. Azek is fade resistant, hard to scratch, non slippery, mold and mildue resistant, heats up less than other composites and has pleasing apperance. Our favourite part about azek decking is ease of cleaning, just a swiffer or a hose will do. No more cleaning products to remove stains from composites. Azek decks look just like after they were installed years later.
There are many  options when it comes to azek decking installations. You can install azek with regular screws (since there is no mushrooming occurring with composites), or you can opt out for stainless steel visible or stainless steel hidden/conceived fasteners.
We always recommend to use stainless steel fasteners for anything that has to do with decking. Stainless steel lasts many times longer than any powder coated screws. Screws can usually be colour matched to decking so they are not visible as a sore thumb.
Azek decking has many options when it comes to hidden fasteners.  Most common method is Cortex screws and plugs method which is also one of our most favourite. Cleats or tiger claw clips can also be used quite easily and with great results. These do however require a bit more skill especially when custom deck patterns are to be installed. In these cases usually  a combination of methods is used.
All in all azek is the best material currently available in Canada for the money. Many colour options make it easy to achieve any look desired and arbour collection colours look almost like real wood. Azek decking is what we would use on our own deck.
